Things have changed. In my day, there were no places for weary river travelers to rest and relax. Now river managers have found ways to make sure that rivers are fun, pleasant and safe.
Think of this the next time you see a boat dock or marina that provides a place to put your boat, a place to eat and even a place to sleep.
That's one of the jobs of today's modern river managers.
